HOTEL BARCELÓ LA NUCÍA PALMS | Floorspace: 14000m2 | Location: La Nucía | Year: 2021
This newly built five-star hotel is located in the village of La Nucía, Alicante, and has 148 rooms. Its main attractions include its gardens and outdoor areas, as well as a buffet restaurant specialising in Mediterranean cuisine, the poolside La Santa María gastrobar, a rooftop bar with B-Heaven views, a gym, a spa & wellness centre, and a multipurpose room.
Taking into account the idiosyncrasy of the project and the target audience (mainly from northern Europe), Ilmiodesign provided a Nordic style for its interior design, both in the rooms and in the common areas, with a wonderful use of wood alongside clear and neutral tones, but giving it a reinterpreted classic touch, which is revealed in elegant mouldings and bespoke pieces of furniture. As a nod to the Alicante coast and the hotel's location, the studio worked on a characteristic Mediterranean colour palette, with a recurring use of green, blue and turquoise, reminiscent of the multiple shades of the colour of the sea.
These tones also break the uniformity of the powdery tones - in the range of greys and beiges - present on the walls and which refer to the aforementioned classicism. And all this combined with the presence of gold and brass through decorative and architectural elements that provide visual strength.
